Preventative dental care in Las Vegas

Children's Dental Cleanings in Las Vegas

Children's dental cleanings remove plaque and hardened buildup while giving the dental team an opportunity to examine a growing smile. At Avocabo Dental & Orthodontics, pediatric cleanings are provided under the care of Dr. Bo Kwok.

What Does Children's Dental Cleanings Involve?

A professional cleaning includes careful removal of plaque and tartar, polishing, and an assessment of the teeth and gums. The visit also gives families practical guidance about brushing, flossing, nutrition, and age-appropriate home care.

Who May Benefit?

Pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence may benefit from routine preventive visits. The approach is adjusted for erupting teeth, mixed baby and permanent teeth, individual cavity risk, and the child's comfort level.

An in-person evaluation is required before Dr. Bo Kwok can recommend care for an individual patient.

What Can Patients Expect?

Step 1

Review

We review health history, home-care concerns, symptoms, and changes since the previous visit.

Step 2

Cleaning

Plaque and tartar are removed, the teeth are polished, and the gums and visible tooth surfaces are checked.

Step 3

Guidance

The family receives home-care recommendations and a personalized plan for future preventive visits.

Potential Benefits

  • Removes buildup that daily brushing may not fully address
  • Supports monitoring of developing teeth and gums
  • Helps children become familiar with preventive dental visits

Limitations and Considerations

  • A cleaning cannot prevent every cavity or replace daily home care
  • Additional examination or imaging may be needed to evaluate concerns
  • Avocabo currently provides dental cleanings for pediatric patients only.

What Alternatives May Be Considered?

Daily brushing, flossing, and nutrition habits are essential but do not replace a professional evaluation. If a child needs treatment beyond a routine cleaning, Dr. Kwok will explain the appropriate options or referral needs.

Comfort, Recovery, and Aftercare

The team adjusts the pace and explanation to the child's needs. Mild gum tenderness or tooth sensitivity can occur, especially when buildup or inflammation is present, but families should follow the individualized instructions given at the visit.

When Should You Contact Our Office?

Contact us if your child has persistent bleeding, significant pain, swelling, fever, dental injury, or another concern before or after a cleaning. These symptoms may require evaluation rather than waiting for the next routine visit.
