Dental technology in Las Vegas
Three-dimensional facial scanning creates a digital surface model of the face and smile without ionizing radiation. At Avocabo Dental & Orthodontics, Dr. Camy Kwok may use it to add facial and soft-tissue information to orthodontic records and planning.

Cameras capture facial surfaces from multiple angles and software combines the data into a 3D model. The model can document proportions, lip position, smile characteristics, and relationships between the teeth and surrounding facial features.
Selected orthodontic patients whose planning or records would benefit from facial soft-tissue information may benefit. A facial scan is not necessary for every patient and does not replace examination or diagnostic imaging.
An in-person evaluation is required before Dr. Camy Kwok can recommend care for an individual patient.
Step 1
The patient sits or stands with the requested facial expression and head position.
Step 2
Cameras record facial surface data from multiple angles without touching the face.
Step 3
The model may be reviewed alone or combined with dental scans and other records for planning.
Standard facial photographs may be sufficient for many patients. Digital impressions, X-rays, or CBCT provide different information and are selected only when clinically appropriate.
The scan is noncontact and does not require recovery. Remaining still and following positioning instructions helps create a usable model.
Tell the team about positioning or mobility needs before the scan. Contact the office if you have questions about how the facial model is used or what a simulation represents.
