Preventative dental care in Las Vegas

Digital Dental X-Rays in Las Vegas

Digital dental X-rays create images of teeth, roots, bone, and developing structures that cannot always be seen during an examination. Our providers select the type and number based on the patient's age, history, symptoms, and clinical question at Avocabo Dental & Orthodontics.

What Does Digital Dental X-Rays Involve?

Electronic sensors or digital imaging units capture bitewing, periapical, panoramic, cephalometric, or other views. Images appear on screen for review, comparison, storage, and treatment planning.

Who May Benefit?

Patients being evaluated for cavities, infection, root or bone changes, developing or unerupted teeth, jaw relationships, or orthodontic treatment may benefit. Imaging is not taken on the same schedule for everyone.

An in-person evaluation is required before Dr. Bo Kwok or Dr. Camy Kwok can recommend care for an individual patient.

What Can Patients Expect?

Step 1

Select the view

The doctor identifies which image can answer the clinical question with appropriate exposure.

Step 2

Capture

A sensor is positioned in the mouth or the imaging unit moves around the head, depending on the view.

Step 3

Review

Images are assessed with the examination and explained as part of diagnosis or planning.

Potential Benefits

  • Shows structures not visible during a clinical examination
  • Images are available promptly for review and comparison
  • Supports diagnosis, growth monitoring, and treatment planning

Limitations and Considerations

  • Uses ionizing radiation and should be based on individual need
  • Two-dimensional views can overlap or hide some anatomy
  • An X-ray does not replace the clinical examination

What Alternatives May Be Considered?

The alternative may be a different X-ray view, CBCT when justified, photographs, clinical monitoring, or no imaging at that visit. The chosen method depends on the information needed.

Comfort, Recovery, and Aftercare

Some intraoral sensors may feel bulky or trigger a gag reflex; tell the team so positioning can be adjusted. X-rays do not require recovery or special aftercare.

When Should You Contact Our Office?

Tell us before imaging about pregnancy, recent X-rays from another office, a strong gag reflex, movement limitations, or other concerns. Contact us afterward with questions about the findings or plan.
