Intraoral Cameras in Las Vegas

An intraoral camera captures enlarged color images of visible teeth, gums, and restorations. At Avocabo Dental & Orthodontics, these images can help Dr. Camy Kwok document findings and show patients the areas being discussed.

What Does Intraoral Cameras Involve?

The small handheld camera is moved around the mouth to photograph selected surfaces. Images appear on a nearby screen and can be stored in the dental record for communication and later comparison.

Who May Benefit?

Patients who would benefit from seeing a crack, wear, plaque, gum irritation, a restoration, appliance condition, or another visible finding may benefit. The camera is used as part of an examination rather than as a standalone diagnosis.

An in-person evaluation is required before Dr. Camy Kwok can recommend care for an individual patient.

What Can Patients Expect?

Step 1

Select areas

The dental team identifies teeth, tissues, or appliances that would benefit from visual documentation.

Step 2

Capture images

The camera is positioned around the mouth while still photographs are recorded.

Step 3

Review together

Images are enlarged, explained, and stored when appropriate for future comparison.

Potential Benefits

  • Lets patients see visible findings on a screen
  • Creates color documentation for the dental record
  • Can support comparison of visible changes over time

Limitations and Considerations

  • Cannot show structures hidden inside teeth, roots, or bone
  • Does not replace diagnostic X-rays when those are needed
  • Image appearance alone does not establish every diagnosis

What Alternatives May Be Considered?

Clinical examination, standard photographs, dental X-rays, digital scans, or other imaging may be used depending on the structure and question being evaluated.

Comfort, Recovery, and Aftercare

The camera is noninvasive and does not use ionizing radiation. Tell the team if an area is tender or if you have a strong gag reflex; no recovery or aftercare is normally required.

When Should You Contact Our Office?

Contact us if a photographed concern becomes painful, swollen, fractured, or otherwise changes before the planned follow-up. Images do not replace reassessment when symptoms develop.
